Education and Earlier life of Army chief Bipin Rawat:

Bipin Rawat was born on 16 March 1958 in Pauri Garhwal in Uttarakhand. Originally, General Rawat, who is related to village Sana, Block Dakkhal of Uttarakhand Pauri district, has a military background. His father was an officer in the army, his mother was from the family of Tehri's famous lawyer Thakur Krishna Singh. Bipin Rawat completed his education from St. Edward's School of Shimla. He graduated from Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in 1978 and was awarded the Sword of Honor here. In the US, he also secured a degree in defense from Wellington's Defense Services Staff College.

After joining the army, the journey to the army chief:

In 1978, the army entered and they were included in the fifth battalion of the eleventh Gorkha Rifle. First posting in 1979 in Mizoram. After joining the battalion, he played an important role in many war campaigns. He has served on various positions in General Operations Directorate, General Staff Officer Grade 2, Colonel Military Secretary, Deputy Military Secretary and Senior Instructor in Junior Command Wing. These became Brigadier in the first National Rifles in the Kashmir Valley. Later, as the Major-General, commanded the Infantry Division. On the China border he took over the command of infantry battalion as a colonel. They were deployed at the Dehradun Indian Military Academy too. He operated several operations to deal with terrorism and extremist activities, due to which he is considered a specialist in counter-insurgency. In the UN Peacekeeping Operation in Congo in 2008, his leadership as the Chief of Indian Brigade was greatly appreciated. On December 31, 2016, he took over as the army chief. Bipin Rawat also wrote a number of articles about security issues for the magazines which people liked well. He has been awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, War Seva Medal, Army Medal and Vishist Seva Medal. Working with the United Nations twice, the Force Commander Commendation Award was given twice.

Master in the War of the High Peaks and Counter Insurgency Operations:

Lieutenant General Bipin Rawat has mastered the fight of high peaks and he has operated several operations to deal with terrorism and extremist activities. Bipin Rawat is considered a specialist in counter insurgency and he has a very good experience in this field. In line with the Line of Actual Control of China in the North East, he commanded an Infantry Battalion. He was the Commanding Officer of the National Rifles and Infantry Division in the Kashmir Valley.

Chief of Indian Brigade in Peacekeeping Force in Congo:

In 2008, he was the Chief of the Indian Brigade in the UN Peacekeeping Operation in Congo. There he was highly appreciated for his leadership. Bipin Rawat has also earned a degree from abroad in Defense. In the US, he graduated from the Defense Services Staff College, Wellington.

Many awards in 37 years of career:

Bipin Rawat has received many service medals and awards for bravery in 37 years of military career. He was awarded the Force Commander Commendation Award twice while working with the United Nations.

Bipin Rawat has also been writing on security issues and his articles have been published in the country's papers. He has also completed research in Military Media Strategy Studies. Chaudhary Charan Singh University gave him the PhD in 2011.

Bipin Rawat's wife Madhulika is a social worker:

Madhulika, wife of new army Chief Bipin Rawat, is a graduate in psychology from Delhi University. Madhulika is a social worker and is especially working for cancer patients.

The new chief of the Indian Army. General Bipin Singh Rawat has achieved this position while moving forward on the steps of his father. His father Lt. Gen. Laxman Singh Rawat has retired from the rank of Deputy Army Chief in the army. Considered to be an extremely disciplined and calm nature considered to be of very tranquil temperament. First  CDS (chief of Defense Staff) Officer of Bipin Rawat

Until yesterday, people knew Bipin Rawat as the 27th Chief of the Army, but now he has retired from this post. He has got to hold an even bigger position and this is happening for the first time in Indian history. Bipin Rawat has been made the first CDS officer of the country i.e. chief of Defense Staff. No one has got this post before today. The task of the CDS is to coordinate between the Army, Air Force and Navy. Simply put, it will be among the key advisors to the Defense Minister and they will give instructions to the three forces, though their work is not to interfere in any military activity. It only serves to reconcile the three armies and is the Chief Advisor of the Defense Minister and the Home Minister.

Death of CDS Bipin Rawat:

On 8 December 2021, General Rawat died in the crash of an Indian Air Force Mi-17 helicopter in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, India.  He was accompanied by his wife and members of his personal staff.
