An official holiday is expected to fall on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 in the Sultanate of Oman, on the occasion of the Sultan’s assumption of the reins of power in the country, according to the Royal Decree No. 88/2022.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik had issued on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 a Royal Decree No 88/2022 fixing official holidays. Article 1 of the Decree stated that official holidays for units of the State’s Administrative Apparatus, public legal entities and establishments of the private sector with regard to Eids and other occasions listed below shall be fixed as follows:
1-Hijri New Year’s Day to be on 1 Muharram.
2-The Prophet’s Birthday to be on 12 Rabee Al Awwal.
3-Al Isra’a Wal Miraj to be on 27 Rajab.
4-The National Day to be on 18 and 19 November.
5- His Majesty the Sultan’s Accession Day on January 11.
If any of the days of the weekly off coincides with the abovementioned holidays, it shall be compensated by a single day. The dates of the abovementioned holidays may be amended if public interest so dictates.
